More About The Product
These fantasy shoes are inspired by Smaug from the LOTR (Lord of the Rings) stories. The original pair of dragon shoes were made back in 1995 and had cast bronze claw heels and jewels in the eyes. We made another series of them as part of an art shoe exhibition in 1998. These represented 4 elements. Chinese dragon shoes were fire, the claw heeled dragon shoes were metal, we made leaf dragon shoes for earth. We made owl shoes for air.
We first started making shoes with moulded faces back in 1994 when we made a pair of “shoes of the gods” for the Metamorphosis exhibition. The natural leather was moulded over clay models that we hand sculpted on shoe lasts. These particular shoes were the gods Isis and Pan. Since then we have made other boots and shoes inspired by nature and characters: cat shoes, owl shoes, fox boots, and frog boots.
All shoes made to order by Pendragon are designed for comfort and style. Custom shoes are available with other creature inspiration.
