More About The Product
We first made these leaf ankle boots for an exhibition in Tokyo in 2008. Since then we have made many of them – all slightly different because they are individually hand painted with dyes and embossed like leaves. We have made them in burgundy and purple, black and red.
They are the descended from the original Prince of Autumn Leaves shoes. They were made in 1994 as part of the Pendragon metamorphosis exhibition. They were acquired by the Powerhouse museum in 1997 for its shoe collection in Sydney.
This was when we began working with natural leather and started embossing it and using leather dyes. We developed this and it has become a signature Pendragon style. Many of our bespoke boot designs and costume shoes that we make to order feature the leafy style . For example the Victorian leaf boots, the steampunk leaf boots, the tree spirit boots, Elvish leaf booties, and even our Elvish leaf belts and handmade leather leaf guitar straps.
How do you care for your ankle high leaf boots? In order to care for these hand dyed natural leather boots, it’s best not to store them in direct sunlight. Sunlight will darken natural leather. They will change and slowly going browner over time anyway, but this can be avoided by taking care to store them in a dark place. If you are wearing the heels or soles out, take them to a shoe repairer for re-heeling or resoling. Bring them to us if you are nearby but any shoe repairer can prolong the life of your leaf boots.
Making custom wedding boots for alternative brides and grooms is something we often do as personalised boot orders. We love matching colours with your clothing or costumes. We specialise in handmadeboots online and can send our bespoke boots to all corners of the world.
